Advantages to Alumni Networks

Fortunately for many graduating seniors and alumni, many colleges and universities offer post-graduate networks for communication and employment. These networks are usually optional, but provide excellent benefits for members. One advantage of these types of networks is simply for communication -- many alumni forget to provide contact e-mails or websites to college friends, and so may not be able to communicate with other alumni. Another advantage is employment. Using university connections to get a job is considered a useful and respectable method of obtaining employment, and can help almuni who are in dire economic situations. Some colleges and universities are well-known for their alumni network, such as the Ivy Leagues (Brown University, Dartmouth University, Columbia University, Cornell University, Harvard University, University of Pennsylvania, Princeton University, and Yale University) and the Seven Sisters (Barnard College, Bryn Mawr College, Mount Holyoke College, Radcliffe College, Smith College, Vassar College, and Wellseley College). These colleges and universities with strong alumni networks also tend to be rich in history, and have been established in the academic community as respectable schools for many years.
